A
high protein low carb diet is mainly used by body builders when
cutting prior to a competition but also by people who are trying
to lose weight. Cutting means reducing as much body fat as possible
so that the muscles are more visible resulting in less weight
as well. During the cutting phase, body builders limit their carbohydrate
intake, reduce their number of calories and consume more protein.
They go on a high protein low carb diet. Usually you'll see something
like 1 skinless chicken breast, steamed broccoli/green beans,
2 pieces of tomatoes and 2 pieces of wholewheat bread or 1/2 cup
of brown rice. On the other hand, a bulking phase will include
more carbohydrates.
A high protein
diet is fundamental for building muscles and maintaining them
as well. Protein is made up of amino acids and these are responsible
for the vital functioning of our body including the building of
muscles. When your body muscles are depleted after a tough workout,
protein is important to repair the damage of the muscle tissues
and to rebuild them for larger growth.
Similarly,
people who are trying to shed pounds, should go for a high protein
low carb diet and exercise regularly to burn the excess calories.
This type of diet will enable them to achieve their goals.
