Are
you fed up with cracking of eggs or boiling eggs and removing
the shell? You're not alone. Many body builders consume egg whites
on a regular basis and many of them are used to boil eggs and
remove the whites after as well. While it's not a big deal if
you do it from time to time, it can become a hassle if you do
it everyday for example for body builders since they eat egg whites
practically on a daily basis.
But since
there is egg white protein powder nowadays, many body builders
have taken the shortcut to getting their protein intake from eggs.
Egg white protein powder is more convenient, easy and fast to
use. So no more cracking eggs. This powder can be used as egg
white protein shake or used in your breakfast oatmeal for instance.
Most of these egg white protein powders contain artificial flavors
and sodium as well and the protein is of high quality. Just one
scoop of egg white protein powder can contain as many as 22 grams
of protein per serving. So two scoops and you already get a whopping
44 grams per meal which is good.
While you
can have egg white protein powders at your disposal, you should
use it along with natural eggs from time to time. I am not saying
you should try to avoid them but just don't rely solely on these
powders as they contain artificial flavors and sodium. It's the
the same thing when you're being told to eat canned foods with
moderation as they contain sodium. Sodium is not good for health
but if you eat it in moderation there is no problem.
So, I recommend
your protein intake from egg white protein powder but in moderation.
Whole foods are still fundamental in your diet. Still natural
eggs are important. Don't avoid them completely just because they
can be a hassle sometimes mostly when boiling and cracking. Just
cracking, removing yolks, beating and using as omelette is less
hassle for sure. When I talk about moderation, same thing can
be applied to natural eggs. I wouldn't recommend you to eat 3-5
egg yolks everyday because although their saturated fats are low,
their cholesterol content is high and should be limited to about
1-2 egg yolks a day maximum.
The egg white
protein powder should be used as a supplement. So use this supplement
as a stand alone or replacement meal if you want or with your
meals. Another good use of egg white protein powder is immediately
after your workout to recharge your depleted muscles. Your post-workout
meal is of paramount importance and you should fuel your body
with a high protein meal or shake.
